Empower yourself with the business tools and information you need to succeed as an author! Join the Authors Guild Foundation and publishing professionals from Penguin Random House and our local partner Hugo House in Seattle on March 24, 2019 for this FREE workshop for authors about the business of writing.
Writing is only part of the picture when it comes to being an author. Now that you have a manuscript, you want to get it published and have as many people as you can read and buy it. For many writers, no matter how hard it is to write a book, the following stage seems more daunting, even for mid-career authors. But if you want to keep writing, you need to figure out how to publish and market your books—all while making sure you protect your rights—and that’s where we come in. This bootcamp will present a panel that includes legal experts, editors, agents, and marketing and sales professionals as well as local authors who have navigated this side of the writing business.

We’ll discuss:
- Paths to publication

- Best practices in marketing, promotion, and reader engagement
- How a book comes to market
After the in-person session, you’ll be invited to join a series of webinars to keep the discussion going. We want to help you get informed and stay informed about the business of your writing.

This event is part of the Business Bootcamps for Writers series, traveling to six cities across the United States in this inaugural season. The series is hosted by the Authors Guild Foundation, the charitable and educational arm of the Authors Guild. It educates, supports, and protects American writers to ensure that a rich, diverse body of literature can flourish.
There are no costs for participants to attend. The program, lunch, and reception are included. Please complete the application form. There is limited space and you will be contacted if your application is approved or if you will be put on our waitlist.
There are a limited number of need-based, regional travel stipends available for participants coming from nearby cities. We are especially interested in reaching new authors from diverse backgrounds who do not have the means for, or access to, other educational programs.
