Why is writing important to you and why do you think it’s an important medium for the world? I love telling stories, and I’m far better at that through writing versus talking to people. As much as I love oral storytelling (as a listener), stories need to be written down to survive.

What are your tried and tested remedies to cure writer’s block? Write something, anything, even if it’s rubbish. That usually kick-starts me to focus on my current project.

What is your favorite time to write? Late at night. In reality, I can write anytime anywhere.

What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever received and would like to impart to other writers? If you want to be a writer, start writing.

What excites you most about being a writer in today’s age? The possibilities through social media of having thousands of people learn about your work.

Stanley Trollip’s A Deadly Covenant, co-written with Michael Sears under the joint-pen name Michael Stanley, is out now.
