Why is writing important to you and why do you think it’s an important medium for the world? Having worked as a journalist as well as a fiction writer for many years, I can’t imagine what it would be like to not write. And I know that people still love and need stories.

What are your tried and tested remedies to cure writer’s block? I pull weeds or go for a walk. And try not to give up.

What is your favorite time to write? Early morning. It’s a habit I got into when my children were small. It was my time before the rest of the world was awake.

What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever received and would like to impart to other writers? To read.

What excites you most about being a writer in today’s age? There are so many options for publishing today. It may feel like like you’re caught in a maze, trying to find the route that works for you, but I believe it’s possible, now more than ever, to share your stories with the world, if you want to.

Sasha Paulsen’s Where Time Begins is out now with She Writes Press.
