Member Spotlight: Lucy Ann Banks

Why is writing important to you and why do you think it’s an important medium for the world? Writing is the best way to explore complex issues, niggling ideas, bold visions… for a restless writer’s mind, it’s essentially a form of therapy!

What are your tried and tested remedies to cure writer’s block? Set a target (usually word count) and stick to it. Editing 100 bad words is better than trying to edit nothing!

What is your favorite time to write? Evening – preferably with a glass of wine in hand…

What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever received and would like to impart to other writers? Be you. It doesn’t matter if ‘you’ is different, odd, controversial – as Neil Gaiman said once, no-one can do ‘you’ as well as you can!

What excites you most about being a writer in today’s age? The ability to talk so easily to other writers, to share ideas, to find out about new opportunities.
