Why is writing important to you and why do you think it’s an important medium for the world? Reading is the perfect way to escape, travel to faraway places, and different times. One can inhabit someone else’s body and experience different cultures. Having been a reader my whole life, I wanted to become a writer!

What are your tried and tested remedies to cure writer’s block? Leave the computer! Go for a walk or run. One is always subconsciously processing.

What is your favorite time to write? First thing in the morning. It’s best to write before the phone starts ringing and emails start pouring in. Preferably best to write with hot cup of coffee.

What’s the best piece of writing advice you’ve ever received and would like to impart to other writers? Write what interests you. Don’t follow trends. If it interests you there is a story there.

What excites you most about being a writer in today’s age? Writing is a way to express thoughts and ideas to readers who are receptive to books, versus soundbites.

Eve Karlin’s Track 61 is out today with Epicenter Press.
