This panel will be moderated by Associated Press publishing reporter Hillel Italie, and will feature some of the most influential voices in copyright policy: Maria A. Pallante, President and CEO of the Association of American Publishers; Mary Rasenberger, Executive Director of the Authors Guild; and Keith Kupferschmid, CEO of the Copyright Alliance. This heavyweight team will explore the equities of copyright law as they relate to authors, publishers, and other aspects of the public interest, from the promise of global digital commerce to the evolving legal landscape in the courts and on Capitol Hill.

Developed for authors, this panel, moderated by author and bookseller Emma Straub, features booksellers who have formulated best practices for working together to create events that benefit both stores and authors. This session will cover a number of issues, from author publicity to dealing with pre-event nerves and will feature booksellers from Devaney, Doak & Garrett Booksellers (Farmington, ME), Bank Square Books (Mystic, CT), Savoy Bookshop (Westerly, RI), Book Passage (Corte Madera, CA), and BookBar (Denver, CO). Moderator: Emma Straub. Panelists: Kenny Brechner, Annie Philbrick, Luisa Smith, and Nicole Sullivan.

Cultivating Genuine Relationships with Readers
