The longlists for the Carnegie Medal for Excellence were recently announced on September 28. Jennifer Egan’s Manhattan Beach, Louise Erdrich’s Future Home of the Living God, Paul La Farge’s The Night Ocean, and Jesmyn Ward’s Sing, Unburied, Sing were longlisted in the category of Fiction. Sherman Alexie’s You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me: A Memoir, Ron Chernow’s Grant, and William Taubman’s Gorbachev: His Life and Times were longlisted in the category of Nonfiction. The winners will be announced at the American Library Association (ALA) Midwinter Meeting in Denver on February 11.
