“Let the Supreme Court Decide” on Google’s Mass Copying, Says Robinson in Journal Op-Ed

In the wake of seven friend-of-the-court briefs submitted last week to the Supreme Court asking it to review Authors Guild v. Google, Guild president Roxana Robinson has taken our case to the op-ed page of The Wall Street Journal. “Let the Supreme Court decide,” Robinson wrote. “Was it fair to copy millions of books without paying writers?”

“The Supreme Court has not taken up a case involving copyright’s fair use doctrine since 1994,” she continued. “The lower courts—applying old concepts to new facts—have created a tide that shifts compensation from the increasingly struggling creative sector to the affluent tech sector.”
