On Wednesday September 25, the House Committee on Appropriations Subcommittee held a hearing entitled “Federal Trade Commission: Protecting Consumers and Fostering Competition in the 21st Century”, where representatives spent most of the hearing analyzing recent FTC settlements with YouTube and Facebook; also on Wednesday, it was announced that Google will revise how it shows previews for news stories in France, rather pay license fees to publishers when France adopts the new European Union copyright rules (which are expected to take effect in late October).
