How it works: Submit a short application form here: authorsguild.net. We’ll have your website ready for your review within a week and waive the $75 site-building fee (details below). You’re under no obligation to activate your site or pay anything, but if you activate your site we charge a modest $6 per month hosting charge.
What you’ll get: Your own website with your own domain name. The website will contain up to seven pages and include book cover images (where available), an author photo, links to online bookstores, and a listing of any upcoming events. Pages on your site will include:
- A home page (your biography)
- A bibliography page listing up to 3 works
- A page devoted to each of up to 3 works
- An events page.
- A contact page
You can add more works and pages later – we’ll show you how. We’ll also reserve the domain name of your choice for one year at no charge.
Cost: We build websites at no charge for new members. Simply submit your application within 30 days of joining the Guild and activate your site within 30 days of our completion of a preliminary version of your site. Our normal site-hosting costs ($6 per month, charged quarterly in advance to your credit card) will apply, but only after you’ve reviewed your draft website and chosen to activate your account. You pay nothing up front, and are under no obligation to activate your account. If you’d like a domain name (www.yourname.com, www.yourbooktitle.net, etc.), we’ll reserve it for the first year free. After the first year, the regular annual domain name registration fee will apply – that fee is currently $18 per year.
The layout: The placement of text, cover images, and author photo will be similar to that of mignoneberhart.com. You may easily change the layout, theme, and color scheme of the site any time you’d like, once the site is complete. Don’t worry, it’s quite easy — more than 2,000 Guild members maintain their sites — and we’ll be here to help. After we build your site we’ll invite you to a phone seminar that will teach you how to maintain it.
