The Benjamin Saltman Poetry Award is given to a previously unpublished original collection of poetry. The winner will receive $3,000 and publication by Red Hen Press. The Eugene Paul Nassar Poetry Prize is open to residents of Upstate New York. Submitted work must be a book of poems in English, at least 48 pages long, published between July 1, 2012 and June 30, 2013. Books may be submitted either by the author or the publisher. The Hedgebrook Writers in Residence Program is a retreat that hosts women for residencies of two to six weeks. Residency season runs from February to October. The program is open to all women writers regardless of professional experience, nationality, place of residence, etc. To apply, you must submit an online application with a writing sample of no more than 10 pages, that you feel best represents you as a writer. Notting Hill Editions is currently accepting submissions for its William Haslit Essay Prize for the best essay in the English language. Entries should be between 2,000 and 8,000 words and can be on any subject. Authors of any nationality are eligible but essays must be originally written in English (not a translation). The winner will receive £15,000 (about $22,000) and five runners-up will each receive £1,000 (about $1,500). Entry fee: £10 (about $15). Deadline: September 1, 2013.
