This week’s batch includes a residency, a fellowship for our Delaware residents, and short story and poetry contests, all with August 1 deadlines.

The Delaware Division of the Arts offers a variety of Individual Artist Fellowships, including grants for literary artists. Entrants must be residents of the state of Delaware for at least one year at the time of application. Recipients must remain Delaware residents during their fellowship year and cannot be enrolled in degree or certificate-granting educational programs at the time of application or for the duration of their fellowships. Established Professional Fellowships of $6,000 will be awarded to those who have significant achievements in their respective fields. Emerging Professional Fellowships of $3,000 with be awarded to those who have not yet established reputations in their fields. To apply, writers must submit a 15-20 page section/selection of prose, poetry, or drama along with their application. Deadline: August 1, 2013. The 10th Annual Gival Press Short Story Award is now accepting submissions of previously unpublished original short stories written in English. Stories must be between 5,000 and 15,000 words. The winner will receive $1,000 and publication on the Gival Press website and in a future anthology of short stories. Entry fee: $25. Deadline: August 8, 2013. The Indiana Review is now accepting submissions for its annual 1/2 K Prize. The award is given to the best poem or short short story under 500 words. The winner receives $1,000 and publication. You may submit up to three poems or short shorts per entry. Entry fee: $20 (includes a one-year subscription to the Indiana Review). Deadline: August 1, 2013. Yaddo, the artists’ community, offers residencies from two weeks to two months that include room, board, and studio. Artists may apply individually or as collaborative teams of two or three. There is no fee for residency. Application fee: $30 (plus applicable fees for media uploads). Deadline: August 1, 2013 (for residencies starting in late October through May of the following year).
